Health and Safety at Work – Level 2
Location: Our Training Academy, West Hampstead
Delivery: Face-to-Face / Onsite (Same-Day Delivery)
Accreditation: CPD Certified
Course Overview
The Health and Safety at Work module is the cornerstone of professional care. In a home care environment, your “workplace” is someone else’s home, which presents unique and unpredictable hazards. This course equips you with the knowledge to identify risks, follow legal safety protocols, and ensure a secure environment for yourself, your colleagues, and your service users.
Delivered at our Ella’s Homecare, West Hampstead Cetre—the area’s only facility for specialised healthcare training—this session simplifies complex legislation into practical, actionable steps that keep everyone safe.
Training Efficiency & Logistics
We understand that compliance is vital, so we’ve made our training as accessible as possible:
- Same-Day Delivery: Get your health and safety certification in a single face-to-face session.
- 3 to 4 Courses Per Day: Many learners complete this module alongside Fire Safety, Infection Control, or Moving & Handling for a complete compliance day.
- Small Group Focus: We limit our intake to 10 learners per day. This allows our trainers to address the specific environmental challenges you face in your daily care routes.
Certification & Trust
Your safety credentials meet the highest industry standards for verification:
- 3-Year Validity: Your Health and Safety at Work certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue.
- QR Code Validation: Every certificate includes a unique QR code. Employers or CQC inspectors can instantly scan and verify your training, providing absolute trust in your safety knowledge.
What You Will Learn
This module covers the core safety requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant UK regulations:
- Risk Assessment: How to spot hazards—slips, trips, falls, and electrical risks—in a domestic setting and the proper steps for reporting them.
- Legal Responsibilities: Understanding your “Duty of Care” as an employee and what your employer is legally required to provide.
- COSHH Awareness: Safe handling and storage of hazardous substances, such as cleaning chemicals or clinical waste.
- Accident & Incident Reporting: How to correctly use an Accident Book and the importance of reporting “near misses.”
- Lone Working: Practical safety strategies for carers working independently in the community.
- Fire & Electricity: Basic fire prevention and spotting dangerous electrical appliances or “overloaded” sockets in service users’ homes.
