When you need continuous care, you may not want the added stress of having to leave familiar surroundings. Ella's Homecare gives you the option of high quality care without moving to a care home. Our live-in care service offers the reassurance of 24 hour care and support
in the comfort of your own home.
Our live-in care services include
Companion care is one of our most requested services. When one of our Ella's Homecare care assistants provides companionship care, they become a trusted companion who can keep you or your loved one socially engaged in their own home, and also accompany you or them on visits with friends, family, and to other social events.
At Ella's Homecare, our companionship services may cover a wide range of activities where we are able to provide support, for example:
The care assistant sleeps at the property for a minimum of nine to ten hours and is on hand if required. This option will suit if you don’t require regular support, but feel uncomfortable when left alone throughout the night. Anxieties and sleep deprivation can soon be improved with a sleeping night care professional there to support you. Having that extra night care at home can really help you remain healthy and happy. If assistance is needed more than twice during the night, this will be considered a waking night.
The care professional is on duty throughout the night for a minimum of Twelve hours. This is the best support option if you or a loved one wakes several times perhaps being disorientated or needing to go to the bathroom. If you wake at regular intervals during the night to change position due to injury, or if you have to administer medication at regular intervals, this is likely to be the best choice for you.
The waking night care professional is there at your side as and when you need them for the duration of the night, providing a high level of expert support.
Home care packages built around you support you to maintain your chosen lifestyle, from a visit a day to 24 hour or live-in care. Spinal injury refers to damage of the spinal cord either from a traumatic injury such as an accident, or a non-traumatic injury such as a tumour, blood clot or haemorrhage.
The spinal cord contains the vital nerve cells that transmit messages from the brain to the muscles, skin and other organs of the body. These cells also transmit sensations from the body to the brain, for example temperature, texture, pain, etc. A person with a spinal injury will experience a loss of movement and sensation below the point of the injury.
The extent and duration of this loss will depend upon the nature of the injury. If there is partial damage, some sensation and movement will return, but this could take up to two years. Where the damage is total, the loss of function is likely to be permanent.
Paralysis and loss of feeling increase the risks of:

The most common forms of sensory impairment in the UK involve the loss of sight and hearing, often related to the effects of old age. Sensory impairment can lead to feelings of isolation and frustration, which can in-turn result in further health problems such as anxiety and depression. Our carers are familiar with the issues caused by a loss of a sense and understand the benefits of a considered approach to care planning and delivery.
Ella's homecare carers are experienced in dealing with people with a range of sensory disabilities, both old and young. Due to this experience and training, carers are always vigilant when caring for clients with a sensory impairment by being mindful of things such as looking out for any potential dangers or trip hazards in the home or talking face on, so that lips can be read, or gestures interpreted. A number of people with dementia will often have some form of sensory impairment, which can cause additional difficulties in communication. Sometimes hearing or sight loss can be age-related – it is important that regular appointments are kept with hearing and sight specialists to ensure glasses and hearing aids are working at their most effective. Our carers will ensure these appointments are kept and can even help with attendance. In the course of their duties, they will monitor to see if any impairment worsens and they will feedback and let you know if they feel your loved one should see a specialist.
Ella's Homecare can provide the extra homecare and support you need to manage these challenges. Our dedicated staff team are experienced in providing practical, emotional and social support to help you enjoy a normal and independent life.
Each year approximately 150,000 people across the UK will have a stroke. It can happen to anyone at any age, but 75% of cases affect people over the age of 65. Family history, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure can all increase the risk of stroke.
Each person’s experience will be different, so we always ask about what is important in your life and your personal needs and preferences. Together we create a personalised homecare and support plan to help you achieve your specific goals and to live the life that you want. You are always in control, we respect it’s your home and your choice. The services we offer include:
There is no cure for Parkinson's disease, however, treatment, domiciliary care and support can help to manage the symptoms.
